Why does my cell phone make my computer speakers emit noise? Whenever I have my AT&T phone near my computer and I'm about to recieve a call or a text, it makes my speakers (from the computer) emit these weird feedback noises. It also does it if I'm on the phone near the computer. My old Verizon phone didn't do this. I'm sure it's not harming anything but is it just radio interference or something weird like that? Anyone else had this happen? Thanks!

Marco replied: "Because of the interferences that the cell phone emits, like you said.. it depends a lot from the kind of the waves Cheers from Italy ^^"

globe307 replied: "Its a common occurrence. Its known as the GSM buzz. It has to do with how the GSM networks work. That's why you never noticed it with your Verizon phone. The RF in a GSM phone "pluses" and its picked up by devices that aren't shielded well. The pulse rate is in a spectrum that is easily heard where as a CDMA network like Verizon was always on in a spectrum that isn't as audible. Its actually been a big problem for the iphone. You have to put in in "airline mode" when using a dock, tape adapter, or other accessory or you end up with the buzz. Here are two articles the discuss it, why it happens, and how to prevent it."

Brandi K replied: "I have AT&T and my phone and my husband phone does this too. Your cell phone receives signals, the signals are close to something else that is electronic, making the weird noises. It's not harming anything. Every cell that I have had from AT&T has done that."

why do my computer speakers make a noise when i get or send a text on my cell phone? my computer speakers make a weird noise when i send or get a text...why?

Jeff replied: "Cell phones send out signals that interfere with audio equipment. It can be a problem with guitar/bass amps, but usually just makes a click or pop with smaller speakers. I notice it when I turn on my phone near my computer."

jhnedrmr replied: "If you got wifi hooked up that might cause it."

L B replied: "As Jeff said, that's interference. Some cell phones provide that experience more than others. Some won't do anything (mine doesn't, thank goodness), and some are bad enough that if you're on a landline phone when the cellphone goes off (and yes, that includes for txt msgs - I used to work in a call center next to a guy who got constant text messages, and refused to turn the !@#$ thing off - I hated him), you're going to get a very unpleasant, loud buzzing in the ear and probably not be able to hear the caller (and they hear it, too)"

MICHAELANGELLO replied: "The because the type of fequency that gsm phones use. If you do the same thing with a TDMA phone, or a PCS phone this will not happen. Annoying, yes harmful, no. Its the same reason you get worst reception with GSM phones, and more dropped calls with PCS."

amlopez29 replied: "because cell phones use R.F signals thhey interfere with most electromagnetic equipment, such as speakers.. this will happen with almost any cell phone receiving a signal whether it be a call or a text message. that is why they do not allow you to use them on airplanes, because they will interfere with the airplane's equipment"

Why does my computer speakers make a noise? My computer speakers make a noise whenever i turn them up to the highest volume possible. The noise is like a whistling noise. If someone knows how to fix it please tell me how its REALLY annoying. Its a Hp Pavilion f1703

Natasha G replied: "some times it has cokraches in it"

music man replied: "thats the dead trying to communicate with u, just talk back normally"

thefoggmeister replied: "Your speakers might be crapping out. IF you have had them longer than 2 years, you might want to look into getting new ones. You can get a decent pair for less than 20 bucks."

Tri T replied: "yea my girlfriend too."

joey k replied: "Either a cheap sound card. Or cheap pc speakers. Since there are so many electronic components in a computer it is very common for low quality sound equipment to receive feed back"

Suresrookie replied: "Normaly aged speakrs wil mak dis nois bcaus a black or brown coatin paper(U can see it easily wit normal vision) in de speakr may b damaged...U can repair it in shops no need 2 buy new speakrs...Or Its probably bcaus of some electicl fluctuation in speakr conection...Check it...And 1 mor probability is de software u use 2 run de songs may b crete dat sound...U can check it buy just turn ur speakr in ful volume wile u login 2 s if it doesnt produce dat noise means de probs is in software..."

brunoalsilva replied: "This might be the same problem I have. It seems that it is a whistling noise but check it again, at my house I have radio interference with a am radio station.... it sounds like a whistling noise but when i pay close attention I can kind of hear the radio station. check online for radio interference and you see that many people has the same problem"

My computer speakers wont make any noise on one computer but it will play music on my laptop? When I connect them to my laptop the speakers work, but when I connect them to my desktop they won't make any noise. I already checked the volume on the computer and they're not on mute or anything. also they were working the day before yesterday on my desktop.

cozmo replied: "Check your computer manufacturer website for driver updates. Could be your sound card going but check that first."

adogriley92 replied: "it could be a problem with a port on your desktop. maybe when you unplugged them the day before yesterday, you messed up something with the port on your desktop. you should try restarting your desktop and see if that fixes it."

Rachel D replied: "sounds like you some how deleated your sound card"

hotguyunited replied: "Go to control panel, sounds and audio devices, click the audio tab. Then make sure it's the right audio device. Also be sure to trouble shoot the connection. Power, plugs, etc."

rjr05 replied: "open sounds and settings, and make sure the computer has the right device set"

f100_supersabre replied: "Possible bad connection in wire or on computer sound connector. Possible they draw too much power, (if you have an older board.) Possible problem with sound card driver."

meria replied: "Well, because they work on your laptop but not the desktop, It doesn't seem to be a problem with the speakers. It's possible your desktop has a sound card problem. Motherboards these days come with the sound card built in, and if that stopped working for whatever reason, it's not the end of days, you just need to buy yourself a sound card and install it. I would have your computer checked out just to make sure. You should also check to see if your drivers are up to date."

starpc11 replied: "restart ,f8 to the diagnostics, scroll to the last known good config that really work ,click it or system restore back a day"

Liza L replied: "First, check the port if it is the one malfunctioning, then proceed on checking your audio drivers."

Why does my ipod make a strange buzzing noise if plugged into computer speakers? When I plug my iPod into a pair of computer speakers, sometimes they make a strange buzzing noise unless I adjust the iPod to be in a certain position. Why is this?

k_donovan11 replied: "That superfluous auditory interference is due to the sub-audible change in frequency associated with the iPod's proprietary speaker system. No fix exists."

why does my computer speakers make noise when my cell phone rings next to it? does that mean i got cheap speakers or does this happen to all speakers?????? when someone calls my cell when the cell fone is next to the computer the speakers make loud noise but until i answer the phone or shut the phone the speakers stop making noise.its weird.

Jennifer H replied: "ha that does that around the tv and radio and house phone too... its cuz of the waves, they get kinda jumbled... its not big deal though"

k replied: "electromagenic interference. the same thing happens to me and i have expensive (harman kardon) speakers. It also happens in my friend's car."

j p replied: "Your cell phone automatically transmits a signal back to the cell tower to confirm that it has received the ringing signal and is within range of this tower. Cell phones are operating in the giga Hertz range, these extreme short radio waves are almost impossible to block out of any electronic device. It is best to keep a cell phone a bit further away from a computer, especially the keyboard and the mouse, it could actually cause the computer to crash when it suddenly transmits by itself."

My computer speakers make a bird chripping noise? Every know and then I hear through my speakers hooked up to my computer a chripping bird. Now I know certain things make certain noises when using a computer. I have looked through my sounds in the comtrol panel of s XP but have yet to figure out why I hear birds chripping. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Is my computer dying?

babe19 replied: "check out ur audio card"

Nunoyvgvna Awi replied: "cell phone is too close to tower/monitor/speakers."

loki replied: "That sounds more like a problem with the speakers themselves, not s XP. It could be a short, or they could be picking up another signal, even if it doesn't come through clearly."

doogie2man replied: "Lay off the drugs. Actually, speakers will make the sounds when not actually playing a video or music. Just turn them off when not needed."

yonizzel replied: "I have the same thing its really weird, and it actually sounds like birds. have you found out why they are on your computer?"

florida boy replied: "some times drugs play mean tricks on you........it could be a CB radio in your aria, a kid playing with a remote control toy. any thing that transmits RF signals."

Why do my computer speakers make static noise just before an incoming text or call on my cell phone? This is a good one. I'm curious to know the scientific explanation.

Thorivan replied: "This happens because the incoming signal to your phone is giving false 'sound' to play out the speakers. This is louder if you have TrackPhone (loud beeping noise) as opposed to normal cell phones (soft wind-like noise)."

Chris F replied: "Any GSM provider will create an increased amount of distortion and feedback. It is because the frequency of the GSM tower is audible through speakers. A CDMA network like Sprint of Verizon won't do this, while T-mobile and at&t will."

Why do my computer speakers make a buzzing noise when the computer fan is on? And when the fan turns off, the buzzing stops. Its a high pitched really annoying buzz. And when i plug in the mic into the laptop the buzzing completely stops. Whats wrong and how can i fix it? I have an HP Pavilion dv1000

Why do my computer speakers make a static noise? I have brand new desktop speakers. They played fine, then I notice that static will play along with the music. I tried some different speakers and the same thing happens. How can I fix this?

Ash N replied: "try checking what is missing or if a wire is cutted or just search google"

SI replied: "Move your phone away from your speakers."

Silent myst replied: "If you have a desktop its probably because the electrical interference from all the cords. Make sure the non of them are crossing over each other. If it still continues then you need to pull the sound card out of your computer and put it in a different port. This should fix it."
